Well done Nick, good for you. Perhaps one weekend we will all manage to launch on the same day

Will you be having your engine winterized?

Andre

Re: This Weekend

Andre,

Yes perhaps we will manage to get together and go out on the water ................ it is in the lap of the gods and she who must be obayed i'm afraid !!!!!

I have decided not to winterize the boat if i can avoid it. As it is a 3 ltr I only have two drain points on it to worry about and I also leave the drain pipes down in the bilge when not using the boat. I have also spoken to Adrian and he says we should be alright as long as I drain it down and run it up on a weekly basis.

I have also booked onto the pontoon over the holiday and am hoping to get out Xmas day as high tide is about mid day ....... so lets hope for no snow and a good high pressure !!!

Cheers

When I started work on the trailer this morning it was -4c.

I lost one block due to a freeze up, rather you than me Nick.

As Steve says rather you than me Nick.
I trust what Adrian is saying as he services my boat for me too. But am not prepared to take that risk.
I too have a 3 Ltr but still have it winterised YES it means no boating for a bit but rather that than an expensive repair bill. I unfortunately can not get down every week to run the engine so that is the other issue for me.
Guess the only sure way to remove all the water is to blow the system through after each use.

Wish that there was a power supply in the compound so that we could place small electric bilge heaters in the engine bay then i am sure we would all be boating all year.

Re: This Weekend

Steve / Ian,

I have been tossing and turning all week and have now come to the conclusion that the best bet all round is to get her winterised.

I have also spoken to Adrian and booked him up to get her done next week and then to get her back out and give her a good service in the spring.

Thanks for your help on this and i feel that you are right ....... it is just not worth the risk.

Cheers

Nick

Nick, keep your eye on the posts and you can always come out and join me on Seahawk IV. Last year I made myself a DIY winterising kit for my then Parker 630 diesel. Will use it now for Seahawk IV and will be ribbing through the winter

Re: This Weekend

Andre,

I most certinally will and I will also take to opportunity to come out with you when possible if I may.

Have you seen the weather forcast for Sunday 17th. If it goes the way they say it will it could be a last chance to get out for a good run before Adrian wraps her up.

Only problem is that high tide it at about 8.30 in the morning so it will be an early one but lets keep everything crossed that it stays as the BBC says it will !!!!!
