Re: Sunday 6th January

Looks like I'm going down, but Matt has turned up with a whole lot of fishing gear.

Bobbing up and down in near freezing conditions, this is going to call for extra coffee.

Talking Sunday 6th January - Update

Just checked metcheck and it is an improving condition

The wind is dropping and the temp is also slightly up ................. but then when you are bowling your ar** along at 45mph, in an open top, it can be 30 in the shade and you still feel a chill .. or is that perhaps the realisation of how much your fuel bill is going to be !!!!!

Re: Sunday 6th January

Being as I live in Reading and its a 70 mile trip I decided against coming down today as did not think it would have been that good, looking at the sea state yesterday
From all reports the sea was ideal

Re: Sunday 6th January

It was really good, flat seas no real wind to speek of and supprisingly not that cold.

Matt dangled the rod over the side for about an hour with nothing biting. acouple of fishing boats crackled on the radio talking, saying nothing was happening and they were going to knock it on the head so thats what we did, and went for a quick burn, and went in.

Thats when I found out that the troublesome trim motor had given up the ghost and I could'nt raise the leg.

A quick panic call to a cetain Mr Cronk confirmed my fears that it was shot, so Matt waded around to release the reverse lock. It might have been my bad despription but he could not find the latch and when he came out he looked really cold.

There was no getting away with it I was going to have to 'go in'. A dustbin liner on each leg and a pair of beach shoes always kept in the boot and I was ready. Up to my knees and socks still dry. I released the latch lock as the tractor pulled the boat up and the leg became free (tide had gone out so leg was now on the slipway).

ANYONE WANT TO BUY A BOAT REAL CHEAP!!!!!!
