Zapcat Racing

1. NOTICE IS HEREBY GIVEN by the Queen’s Harbour Master Portsmouth that on 20 and 21 May 2005 the Zapcat Racing Club (Ribs UK) will be conducting racing off Stokes Bay. It is expected that approximately 50 ‘Zapcat’ boats will be involved.

2. The course will lie within an area approximately 150 metres by 300 metres in size in Stokes Bay close to the Inshore Rescue Station. The course will be ‘M – shaped’ and will be marked by 7 inflatable dayglow racing marker buoys. The marks will be laid each morning and recovered on completion of that day’s racing. Racing will be conducted in heats and will commence at 1200 and be complete by around 1700 each day.

3. The boats are restricted to the harbour speed limit of 10 knots when not racing. However, when on the course the boats may reach speeds of up to 70 knots. Four safety boats will patrol the race area and, if required, will terminate all racing by hoisting a red flag.

4. Mariners are request to keep well clear of this area whilst the racing is under way
