Re: Chichester Marina Improvements

The CCTV with number plate recognition is great although then getting the barrier to automatically open for you is spooky!

Re: Chichester Marina Improvements

As long as the qeue of rejected visitors being forced to reverse into the visitors car park doesnt hopld me up for tooo long. It sounds good, if it can do that..

A barrier at the main entrance will facilitate a more private community.

IF you can have such a thing with 1200 boats.

Thumbs up Re: Chichester Marina Improvements

Yep, I registered a couple of weeks back and it works well. Not tried the toilet block yet though, I'm just not strong enough to lift the front of the car up to the door lock. Although driving at the door might be an easier way of opening without the code! I have often thought about it after getting stuck in the traffic on the Chichester bypass for half-an-hour.

Steve, I heard you and caught a brief glimps of you coming in to the marina on Sunday afternoon just as I was leaving .. Was it bumpy enough for you??

Re: Chichester Marina Improvements

Reading these messages here about the harbour brings back many happy memories. Going back 20 years I used to beone of two guys that worked for Stacey's that used to get four hours over time twice a month doing regular servicing on the lock gates. Every so many years, I forget exactly, we used to reseal the gates. That was quite a job, requiring a 250 ton crane to lift each section out and back in again. Oh happy days!

I was only down at Chichester on Sunday working on the boat. The bearings had gone on the water pump last time out and had to nurse it back from the Hamble. So needed to replace that, also had a couple of electrical faults to sort out. Once I had done that it was late Sunday afternoon and missed free-flow so no chance of a quick blast!

I heard the sound of a couple a V8's purring as I was driving out alond the road to the barriers and just see you turning BW down towards the slip. I am hoping to get out at the weekend with a couple of the lads but weather for Saturday is not looking good.

I think I have just about cleared up all this years problems on the boat with not many weeks left in the season so might have to make the most of it come rain or shine
