I'll do the console pictures sometime. Theres only a Noddy Mercury speedo and the rev counter. But you will be able to see how much lower it is than the standard one.

I paid good money for that trailer, from CAN trailers and as you can see I will have to build it again.

Re: Steve's Blow up thing

The second-hand chopper prop arrived today from the states.

A bit messy but it only stands me in at 65 quid so I thought it would be good to try out.

Best it goes to John Cuningham for a bit of a tidy up first.

Re: Steve's Blow up thing

Best leave it then mate or she'll start to realise that there is no such thing as a twenty quid prop.

Mary has started using the more than twice rule - so if I say it only cost 20, she imediately says so it was more than 40 then!!!!!!!!!

Re: Steve's Blow up thing

I got my prop back from J.C. last week. Blinding job all true and shiny.

Ian and I popped out on the said red boat to give it a try.

Usual repeated attention at the slip way, 'ow fast dus it go mistuh, eh?'

Well up until today, all I could say to them was that the manufacturers dealer has quoted 72mph.

But as of today, all I can say is 72mph is not lurking in the engineering of this prop.

A fun day out but I am no where near that 72 yet.

Re: Steve's Blow up thing

Steve. I use Geoff at streamline props. Cronky uses him to. If ya send it to him he'll blueprint it and i can guarantee you that the blades have atleast 1-2" of pitch difference. Plus if you tell him what revs your pulling and speed he'll work it out and it will come back doing whatyou want! I reckon that a cleaver would be better on that to. What pitch/diameter ya swinging?

Re: Steve's Blow up thing

Steve,
spoke with Richard on Sunday.

It appears that part of your problem is you are runnning too soft

Your tubes need to be much harder

May be the pressure guage is not reading correctly?
richards tubes had virtually NO give in them at all

also you may be running a different gear ratio to Richard.

He said that in South Africa they have achieved speeds in excess of "80" MPH

Graham you had better watch out Steve will be passing you shortly in the Solent

Re: Steve's Blow up thing

Its 22" pitch and as it wasnt too mangled up I got J.C. to clean it up cheap.

I didnt want to chuck money at it.Being a chopper.

Re: Steve's Blow up thing

Ganjavian, the Southampton-based entrepreneur and acknowledged speed-junkie, already holds several world speed records including the fastest recorded Thundercat at 64.7mph. Last year, his attempt to break 70mph in a Thundercat ended in dramatic fashion when the boat flipped in almost the identical spot to where Donald Campbell and Bluebird flipped in their 1967 world speed record attempt.

Found this on the P1 website,
Ok yours is a Thunderbolt Steve but think this answers the questions

Re: Steve's Blow up thing

Ian it is a thunderbolt.

Finally I got out there again. It was a fairy tale day I'm telling you.

52MPH on the speedo using a 22" hi five used only half a tank in comparison to 1 and a half.

52 I was quite suprised at this. I had 3 of us on there, so it was heavier (marginally!) than when just you and I went out.

A GPS check would be interesting as the exisiting speedo is driven from the take off on the outboard but there wasnt much of that in the water at any time. So any exaggeration in that figue I think is probably offset by the lack of continuos water

Lightbulb Steve's Blow up thing-2009 version

Went down to Itchenor to day.
I've had the right hump.
See if I can sort out its problems to get it into a more usable boat.

1/ Redistribute the weight. Too much right on the transom line. It doesn't feel like it's running on a cushion of air. Angle is wrong.

2/ More fuel capacity. 6 gals is pants.

3/ More occasional seating.

4/ Launch and recovery, protracted.

Welcome back blunderbolt

Steve

Re: Steve's Blow up thing-2009 version

Robbie answers:
1/ Sit with your bum nearer the front.
2/ Incontinence is a bugger (so I'm told). Sorry - '6 gallons is pants', thought it said 'in pants'.
3/ I've got a nice patio lounger if that helps?
4/ Don't talk to other boaters so much on the slipway.
