Earls Court 2007

I eventually got to the Earls Court Show on Friday with Matt, and not really knowing what to expect was pleasantly supprised. As most big name manufacturers weren't there it was an opertunity to spend time chatting to the sellers and manufacterers of more realisticly priced boats.
All that said the new Monterey 355 is a great looking boat, and they have taken that overtly American bling dash off the old 290 sparkled it up a bit and put it in the new Flagship.

Re: Earls Court 2007

The show seamed like a "good idea at the time". unfortunately people going through the turnstiles didn't reflect the initial enthusiasm from exhibitors.

Whyte and Mackay did a great job, let's hope the boating industry doesn't lose them.

Re: Earls Court 2007

i walked in there and was glad to be back in Earls court. I dont know what it is about that place but as a venue it feels so much more inviting.

Perhpas its growing up with it being the venue for so many other shows too.

There were more exhibitors that interested me and brands that have not been there before.

I thought it was sucees and if it was of the same standard or higher, I'd go again next year.

It might be nice if the BMIF got behind this venture rather than trying to shut it down.

Why is it that Exhibitors said that the BMIF had discouraged members from attending?

The BMF organise the Excel show and are therefore competitors - I hope I'm wrong, but the show numbers reported to me were minuscule and the new owners of White and Mackay got lumbered with the show although the new owner made a nice speech at the opening ceremony.

Re: Earls Court 2007

Likerobbie said it was nice to have space to walk around and not have to que for the boats,

Not having the big boys there i think made it a realistic boat show for the average person, There were a lot of reasonable priced boats there, Think if the sports boat and rib show was like this then they would do well.

hope that it is better supported next year

Re: Earls Court 2007

Maybe the 16 entry fee was putting a lot of casual visitors off it costs that for Southampton, and it wasn't the best advertised show at Earls Court.

A picture of Thunderbolt as in previous thread on PT last year:

Re: Earls Court 2007

Well actually Mat and I spent a long time on the Mariah SC19 (pic 3). This boat had a 3litre Merc, with a few extras chucked in, and a 250 deposit secured the boat which costs 16995. Now a 2005 Mariah SC19 is up for sale in LM for 15995 how can that be?

But the Montereys were still looking good but the show price on the 355 was 158,000. Saddly I work for BT not a magnet for Amaco oil.

You say a 250 deposit secured the boat? does this mean you are changing boats or have i miss read your post

Guess the marina is hoping that someone will not do their research properly. what is the saying "something is only worth what someone is prepared to pay for it"
good luck to the Marina
