Robbies Sessa Islamorada - Avalon

Avalon was delivered today, so we had a quick blast out to sea.
Then back for a wash down and put away until the weekend.

Avalon arrives

Heading down River Arun to the sea

Leaving harbour and speeding up

Having a little play looking to see how she handled.

Heading back in

Her new home Bay 2 in the trailer park

A last look over wash down, covers on and off home.

Matt took some video as we took her up to around 35/36kts for a short time.
The engine still only has around 3.5 hours,so trying to have a time for running her in.

Congratulations Robbie, boat looks great.

The purchase of your new craft seems to have done great things to the weather, long may it last. When is the first overnight stay planned?

Re: Robbies Sessa Islamorada - Avalon

Yes Graham I went out today and it was a perfect day on the water. She is quite a heavy boat for 23ft, I know because the tractors struggle pulling her out, and with a 225hp petrol I was keen to see what she could.
37-38 is about her limit at 4800rpm. However 30kts is only 3000rpm which is round her fast cruising speed.
Its strange but 25kts seemed quite quick in Salamis, but feels very slow in the new boat.
Adrian is lending me a stainless four blader to see if it is an upgrade to the ali three blader that's on her now.

Like the all over cover. Is it keeping all the dust and rubbish off as you hoped for?

Re: Robbies Sessa Islamorada - Avalon

All over cover is great. except they didn't put the vents in, so taking it along to the bloke in Rope Walk this week and he's doing it.

I wanted the cover to surround the handrail stantions so the cover would not go over the hand rail and make the rain water puddle in It has proved to be be very successful and I am very pleased with the outcome.

The vents are a must really help with air circulation.

Have you managed to get out in the boat very much lately?

Re: Robbies Sessa Islamorada - Avalon

I'm working most Saturdays and evenings at the moment so very limited time for boat and when I could go out its raining or blowing a gale.
As Matt and his partner are due to have their second baby by Christmas Mary and me are quite excited about being grandparents again and it helps with the lack of boating depression.
