RIB Cruise from Poland to Littlehampton

My new rib is more or less complete and it is an all black Parker 650 Diesel. the engine is the Cummins QSD 2.0 170HP with Bravo 1 drive - full DTS with the Smartcraft vessel Viewer.
Next week with Steve Green and Mike C we are off to Szczecin Poland to bring the rib by sea to the UK. The Rib is known as "Black Magic" I will have AIS on board so some of you may want to track our route. we will have a few days in the Szczecin waters to clock up the first 15/20 hours so prior to departure the first service can be done. Some of you may recall that in 2008 I did a similar trip on a 9 mtr Parker rib. This time we are much better prepared and all possible fuel places have been located and the same goes for hotel accomodation.

we will take the route via the Kiel canal and head for the nice island of Helgoland. then down the coast to Calais where we shall advise HM Coast Guards of our crossing. I do not want a repeat of the boarding in Littlehampton when we brought Nauti Bouy over from Calais

Re: RIB Cruise from Poland to Littlehampton

Strewth thats a long way in a 6.5 mtr RIB Andre, Ihope this good weather holds out.
Ironically I see from the weather forecast that all the bad weather is over Spain and most of the Med. All the good weather is north.

Hope you have a safe trip, hope the weather is as good as this week as the sea has been totally flat all weekend.

Re: RIB Cruise from Poland to Littlehampton

Thanks, if the weather turns then we have a trailer standing by to tow to Calais. I hope this will not be necessary but nothing is ever certain.

Re: RIB Cruise from Poland to Littlehampton

Sadly the weather was not on our side it was blowing a F5 to F7 in the southern Baltic and the North sea.
the time was not wasted as we made 3 great rib trip.

1/. from Szczecin via the inland waterway to Peenemunde Germany to see the V1 & V2 factory which is a museum today.

2/. we circumnavigated the Isle of Wolin and experienced F5 from behind for 18 Nm. Not something we wanted to have for 150-200Nm a day

3/. up the river Odra and down by the other leg where on port side was Germany and on starboard Poland. On the German side we stopped at a very nice marine where we enjoyed some German bratfurst

in between we enjoyed potting around the port of Szczecin and the many waterways around

I had the rib towed to Calais where we launched on saturday and headed for Littlehampton. This time there was no reception party awaiting our arrival.

Nice looking Rib Andre,
Spotted you from the deck of the Cowes Southampton Car ferry on Friday as you were coming out of the Itchen.

Steve, what you can't see is what is on the end of the grey strap an all new dry bag in all black :-)
