Re: Pipe dream number 1,001

If you did not know why you have the tractor unit you would be forgiven for thinking it a bit excessive for towing that caravan

we ahave a covenant that says no caravans allowed on drive. BUT does not say anything about boats
good job really as i am sure mine will be moving from LH at the end of March

We put an ad in the paper saying that we would be applying for a commercial operators license, coz we thought we needed one wherever the truck was stored.

So, the locals thought that we would be keeping the truck at home.

At this point mr mangle, one of our adjoining neighbours put a note through everyones door except ours!) pleading with them to do write into the Trafficcommissioners office and object.

Whilst this was going on, we had found out that we didnt even need an operators license, so we didnt apply for one.

According to the rules for complaint I had to recieve a copy of each complaint.

Funny, Mr & MRS mangle had wound up all of the others but not complained themselves.

THe local ones I went to see and once they realised they had a good laugh.

Seven people wrote in to complain. Poor traffic commissioner must have been a bit baffled, seven complaints and no application.

It comes home on saturday mornings, its weekly run out.

But as I'm exempt from Operator licensing I can have at home as often and as long as I like.

Road tax is the same as for a car.

Some more pics of the trailer progression.

1st pic see the ugly welds on the wheel arch. Gonna take a few grinding disks to clean them up for sure.

Re: Pipe dream number 1,001

I was down a the boat today, checking out a few details.

Turns out that if I make the hitch on the yard trailer detachable I can keep the boat the yard trailer, on the Road trailer.

Thats taken loads of work out of the project.

Dodgy phone picture of Hitch area and boat (hangin off!) yard trailer.

What about the engines? You haven't forgotten which garage you left them in I take it.

Re: Pipe dream number 1,001

So does this mean we will see the BW on the water this year then Steve???

Why does the hitch need to be detachable? surely you will use this to secure to the road trailer

Hope to be on the water this year.

With the hitch section the yard trailer is about 4 foot too long.

I will probably secure the trialer for the the rear on each side. To stop it coming forwards under braking.

Just started to organise the lift with Peters plc.

Re: Pipe dream number 1,001

I set out for Chi last night after work.

Awoke in Peters yard this morning and pulled the B.W. round to Peters Yard and lopped off the front of the yard trailer.

B.W. and said Yard trailer were lifted onto the road trailer.

Arrived back at the local farm this afternoon after a reasonable journey back.

WHich is good as I now know what is involved in getting out onto the main routes to Chi S'oton etc.

PLUS!
Berthing Fee's and Lorry storage fee's now succesfully rolled int one. YES!

Couple of Pics for you..
