Groin crane

I was down at Littlehampton marina today. As the tides were going to be rubbish we knew we wouldn't be able to take the boat out. So Mary Ed and me just had a day out going in the cafe' for lunch, a walk along the river up towards Ford etc and we had a good day. I've bought a new ski tow ring and measured up the stern to where it will go.
Eventually we went down for a last cup of tea at the beach tea-bar. I saw the crane and first I thoght it was some kind of dredger clearing the bar (some chance) actually I think it is a crane repairing the damaged pier groin.

Re: Groin crane

is that an optical illusion or does the structure now appear to go across the river mouth.

Guess may as well link the 2 beaches up at all states of the tide

Re: Groin crane

The crane is there to move the stones into the eastuary to help make the wetlands quicker. It's a cunning plan to trap all the boats up river. Stop the escape plan working

Re: Groin crane

Any info about work replacing the footbridge at South Stoke? Or repairing the Tide gauge on the West pier? Or getting the rolling footbridge back in action? (and is the minibus reliable?)

Updates required please - am going upriver next week and we also have a club rally over the bank holiday.
