Coniston SpeedTrials 30/10 - 4/11 2006

So whose going this year to the Coniston Speed trials. There's usually an interesting selection of boats, from Hydo planes to a Fountain with massive supercharged inboard petrol which ran somewhere in the 90's mph last year.

There is a great spread of B&B's etc, and the pubs sell some evil cider and the famously locally brewed Thunderbird bitter.

The plan may be to go up on Sunday 29 October and stay for 2/3 days.

Could be another Pontoontalk gathering, (but obviously must not interfere with a Pontoontalk end of season party in the infamous Arun View!!)

Re: Coniston SpeedTrials 30/10 - 4/11 2006

Phoned Andre, he's on the case for the XMAS bash.

Me up for Coniston, with my latest camera or two .

Prefer to go up sat AM. Mebbe lunch with the Windemere lot? then revisit the local Windemere secret- underground D.I.S.C.O and then not forgetting the local TRAD-JAZZ band at the boat house next to shepherds too.

Graham, will Paul be entering Marrex to have a go at the supersport record, excellent proving ground for little changes and tweaks? Jan and Drew set it on the last week of Windemere but whether it was ratified and still stands who knows ?

Tony, XMAS bash. A few of us, (those who can get away ) book rooms in the A.V and we have a XMAS meal and Disco with the locals .

Next morning is the customary full english.

Followed by some boating if theres a boat , and crew up for it.

Sounds like a plan !

I think Marex is being put away for the winter, engines up for sale, so plan to be spectator at Coniston, unless you drop one of the V8's from the Donzi in the kids rib and go for a record or bust... may be both

NO, niether, but you have a point.

Find suitable lightweight O/board and set record for shortest rib maybe?

How about borrowing Grahams engine if he not sold his boat.
Sure you would get a good top speed.

Robbie - very good, looks like we've done the hard work by coming up with concept and design, just down to Steve to purchase correct bits and bolt it all together

If Steve starts now his entry may be ready for 2009

what the red buttonfor on the side of the console.
Is that ejector seat or parachute to slow it down

but to qualify correctly must the 2 people be sitting side by side as well
