Re: RC Model hulls

The boat arrived today, and incredibally packaged, and boat shaped to boot.

Warning - its big thats my 30" tele behind the boat.
The strimmer engine I've bought is as I suspected needs some of the red cowling taken off. And it floats but just fits in the bath

Re: RC Model hulls

There's a lot of building and rigging to complete yet and things are a bit mad at the moment with work and holidays, so hopfully I'll have it up and running before mid Summer.

Thumbs up Re: RC Model hulls

I loved the pictures of the boat in the bath.

Man, either thats a dolls house bath, or one heck of a big toy boat.

Ever thought of getting another one and sticking one under each foot?

A new mwaing to water ski's. Spins and going backwards and all.

Robbie I'll be keen to see how you get on.

I want one too, but your development work will sure come in handy so keep postin'

Steve

Re: RC Model hulls

A bit late posting tonight, nodded of in front of the tele and just going to bed. The boys have left the PC on so a qick post before I turn it off.

I have cut off the red cover on one side of the engine and unbolted the fuel tank so the thing now sits low enough for the deck to sit firmly on the hull. Only thing is that the spark plug cap sits a little proud so a small redesign of the cockpit cover needed. a small hole and perhaps something like the tops of orange helmets to cover it maybe. Just got the prop shaft connection to sort out now so might pop up to Mick Charles Model shop tomorrow and see if he's got any ideas.

Re: RC Model hulls

Not so much happening at the moment. Except I took a trip to Corvelle & Varley the lawn mower repairers in Purley, and picked up a second hand square ended flexi shaft from a strimmer for the princely sum of naught.

Problem now is joining this when cut down to the flexi shaft for the prop. The strimmer shaft is more than long enough, but nothing to hang the prop on at the watery end.

It would have been a lot easier to have bought a Zenoah engine but they are hellish expensive.

Re: RC Model hulls

I'm collecting many, many bits mate. Last bit arrived today strangely enough.

I now have the complete flexi drive with a polished ballanced bronze racing prop, out rigger rudder and prop shaft end. Now All the bits and pieces are here all I've go to do is rig it up.
A bit like this - one on the website I bought most of the parts from.
