I absolutely love that area of Dorset. I now wish I had a trailable RIB !!!!

If the weathers good you will have a great couple of days. Give a salute when you pass Swanage as its one of my old stomping grounds.

And whilst you are out cavorting with the enemy how do you think poor old Salamis is going to feel left all alone in the compound.

Boats have feelings too you know

I wouldn't tell her of course !!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Also I don't have enemies. I'm the quinasential 'OLD TART' in that if it floats and has an engine i'm interested.

It's OK Andre we're still mates and I recon your trip next weekend makes moving your boats to Chi the best thing you lot have done.

I see John Baker has moved to Southsea with Phil Rustling. Thats the Chairman and now the secratery of the LMBHA gone now.

Re: Saturday 28 April - Sunday 29 April

Andre,
Would have loved to go but sold the RIB last Sat as was not using it enough and need the cash to help with re-engining the cruiser which leaves Chi marina tomorrow to go to Cobbs Quay for re-engining to begin. Should see you at Chi in about 2 months but will only be able to keep up with you in the speed restricted harbour!!
Have a great trip
Les

Robbie,

how could you let Salamis down after all the TLC and new parts that you have fitted to her

She is like new.New interior as well
You are now ready and able to plan your overnight trip in her

Strange that the LMBHA have not sent anything out too its members? Is this a long term move by John or just a fact finding trip

Re: Saturday 28 April - Sunday 29 April

All that TLC and spare parts are seeping money like an open wound. In fact she tends to get to the end of each season as a basket case that has been costing me around 2 - 2.5K a year in repair and sevice costs plus berting and fuel payments. The whole boating thing is becoming a bit of a hot topic here at home, so I've made a kind of decsion, I've booked half a days leave tomorrow and I'm going boating.

Re: Saturday 28 April - Sunday 29 April

But thats only 48 per week

I have had similar discussions with many people about the costs of their hobbies. And generally I think boating is on par with the rest of them.

At least its not a horse that needs new shoes every 6 weeks and all the other bills associated with keeping them

Re: Saturday 28 April - Sunday 29 April

But thats my point. You don't have to rebuild Sooby Doo every year. Infact I would be doing myself a favour to buy a newer trailable boat and tow it to were ever I want to go boating.
